Terrarium Park is hosting a workshop on observing and sketching from life, led by Ar.Vi.Ma. tutor Alessandra Ubezio.
The workshop invites participants to transform items collected from nature into a genuine nature sketchbook, using the delicate and expressive medium of nature watercolour.
Terrarium as a creative space
The workshop organised by Ar.Vi.Ma., Pavia’s Municipal School of Art, is taking place at the Terrarium site, at 20 Via Garibaldi in Travacò Siccomario, confirming the park as a meeting place for art, nature and shared practice. It is the ideal setting for a workshop that combines artistic sensibility, hands-on experience and a connection with the environment.
Study from life
The day begins with a walk through the countryside, a moment of reflection and close observation of the landscape’s details. This leads into the introductory session, which focuses on watercolour techniques and the composition of the sketchbook, with the aim of observing, selecting and translating the richness of Terrarium’s natural surroundings into images.
Watercolour and composition
Following the morning session, the afternoon is devoted to developing and finalising the illustrations. Participants can refine their work through a final group review, in an atmosphere of discussion and experimentation that blends artistic practice with botanical observation.
